Cognition is a fearless DJ. Determined, confident, and capable. One can hear it in the way he spins house and electro. He knows he can do anything he sets his mind to, and that’s exactly how he approached his career as a DJ. With great respect for his predecessors, Cognition thought, “if other people are doing this, so can I.” And he did.

At 17 he bought records even though he didn’t yet have a turntable, just to have them for “later.” And when later came, he taught himself to spin. He practiced for five hours a day. He was in the scene before he was part of it. Inspired by DJs such as Carl Cox and Richard Humpty Vission, Cognition would go to shows in his late teens, and just watch how the DJs spin, how they performed, and would go home and practice what his eyes absorbed. For years on his own he built up skill and expertise in the genres of house and electro, developing a sound that is characterized as upbeat and hard-edged, yet deep and melodic. Because of that, Cognition was able to successfully hit the electronic scene hard as a DJ in 2006.

Since bringing his sound to the Denver electronic scene two years ago, he has been a successful and significant DJ in the industry, spinning alongside other notable artists in his genre. In a mere two years, Cognition has played at Caffeine, Infinity, and the noteworthy 2008 Electric Daisy Carnival, where he felt it an honor to play such an important musical event. The accomplished DJ has opened for artists such as Darude, Sander Kleinenberg, Rabbit In The Moon, and DJ Icey. He’s worked with Beatport, and taken his fiercely melodic sound to Colorado’s famed Church nightclub, and the newest club venue on the scene—Denver’s Beta.

Cognition evokes energy from the crowd, taking them through a musical journey with his fast, uncompromising sound. For him, however, the powerful and demanding house sound brings him peace as he gets lost in its depth and explores its melody.

Determined, confident, capable. Add to that—consistent. He has built a reputation as being able to deliver every time he plays. New to the industry, but not to the scene, he spins with proficiency and can impress at any venue, regardless of its magnitude.
